Key West and beyond.

Timeline - Bio
I went to the Philadelphia school for guitar when I was 14...man I was cool.

Gus worked for a record distributer and would get all the new releases and man we would listen ,and try to play . the basement band days. What fun! My brother would make me learn songs so he could sing them .and I wanted to be  Dylan, Beatles ,Elvis . I loved it and still do..Thats where it started...  Naturally I went out to California.

I met Sandy Kaye in San Francisco. Great drummer and friend and Pat Lydon in Los Angeles. We started playing together as Neighborhood Watch. We played a lot of great places and some not so great from L.A. to S.F. and everywhere in between that would have us.Pat has a studio and we spent hours and days in there, he taught me so much I will forever be in his debt.

I would play every chance solo acoustic at small clubs , coffee house poet type places , open mikes  and the occasional paying gig. We put out a c.d. (it's hard to stand still on a moving planet) the title is because I was constantly traveling. I guess I wanted to be heard. The list of gigs I have played is quite long . some good some bad and some too weird to mention.

We played the 25 Anniversary Summer of Love show in Golden Gate Park at the site where all the concerts used to be held  in the 60s.

I played at the red Victorian hotel on Haight and Ashbury (the brownie gig where Allen Cohen the publisher of the Oracle and his wife ;yes she did play upright bass did beat poetry)  Susan  James had been touring with Bob Weir so the place was a zoo. a beautiful zoo. Woodstock 94 on the small stage in arts village. oh yea it rained.

Las Vegas. I landed somehow in the neon city pretty much dazed. Luckily my friends saw to it I didn't fade away. Scott Tilitson was in a band called (Five O'clock Shadow) and I joined the band . We emerged as August West a band I loved to be a part of. Played a lot of gigs in Las Vegas and Legends was our home base, We were a fun band and had wild shows I have to say I love Las Vegas.

Taxi Cab Confessions;   yes some how I wound up driving for the TV. show. I got my license and did actually drive a real cab for a very short time and the show hired me so for most of my year I drove for H.B.O.   Great break, since August. West was fun but not very profitable. There are some venues for acoustic musicians in Las Vegas so I had my solo gig going. When the show took a break for the season I went on a trip and came to Florida.
Key West. ah 1997 What did I stumble onto here, Blue Heaven was my first gig. What a sweet change . I played on the porch at Grunts . Such an open minded place and opportunity to do what I do .

Captain Tonys Saloon gave me a chance and I have been there ever since.   How lucky ?  Go to Captain Tonys page...

Schooner Wharf  in our historic seaport has a slogan or saying  (the last little piece of key west) well its turned out to be true. As the condos go up and old places go down Schooners  keeps on living up to its reputation as a laid back , come as you are place. On the water under the stars.

I know I am fortunate to play there on Wednesday nights. There are so many talented musicians here in key west and  to be able to have the night to invite friends and people I admire to come and play the night with me is thrilling and the patrons get something special .I have been fortunate enough to play with , Carl Peachey, Russ Scavelli, Adrian, Will Hoppy, Michael McCloud , Bubba Low Notes, Pete Jarvis, Ravin Cooper, Greg Shandley, and many more talented entertainers here at Schooners Wharf bar and I am thankful to be a part of such a special place.

Sloppy Joes.  I listened in at Sloppy's for years and always heard quality entertainment and always busy , that's no accident. One day Terry Cassidy ask me if I would come and play. Well I have played at big places before but this is Sloppy Joes so nerves shaking I did and WOW I get to play there from time to time. The customers who come in are expecting good service ,food and entertainment .From what I see they are not let down. The  folks who work there are fantastic and as I watch them from the stage I recognize the teamwork that they have . There must be a line from here to Miami  with people who would like to play at Sloppy's so I feel honored  every time I walk through the door , did I say door , (no doors ) well you know what I mean.

Will Hoppey turned to me during a show last week when we all flew into a jam and said
unreal this is all unrehearsed, off the cuff as Will said., (I ), beleave every time I  have ever played is a learning expeiance and a chance to grow and  leads up to the next musical moment I told Will we have been reheasing for 25 years , lets play
